There are new startups that pop up every single day that launch products to help marketers, but there isn't a one-stop destination to find these apps and get honest feedback from other marketers about their experience with these products.
Sure, there's places like Product Hunt and Quora, and although I love both of those communities, I think there's a need for a place that does more to help marketers.
A place where marketers can share apps or products that helped (or did not help) their businesses like on PH.
A place where marketers can ask questions and get honest feedback like on Quora.
But more importantly, a place where marketers can connect with other marketers from all over the globe and chat in a casual Reddit or Hacker News-type structure.
So, this is Marketer Hunt and it's goal is to try and accomplish those three things and make the world a little less lonely for fellow marketers.

Urban Airship is a mobile marketing company covering myriad solutions to monetise your app from mobile marketing automation to mobile analytics and audience segmentation. Its biggest product is a push-notification engine, which sends real-time customized notifications and in-app messages to your users, creates targeted web push notifications, and builds mobile wallet passes – coupons, loyalty cards etc.
I mostly use UA for push notification, and their push services helps me save a great deal of time compared to building one in-house. Being able to create channels and segments, as well as schedule and batch notifications is incredibly useful and efficient. Also, their support team was responsive and helpful whenever I needed assistance.
The price is so steep! I used Urban Airship in a few personal apps several years ago. Being an iOS developer with hardly any server-side experience, this platform was a life saver. However they decided to get rid of their free tier, and the lowest price plan available became too expensive for an independent developer. I would ony recommend this for larger projects with a big budget!
Mailgun lets small startups and SMBs with getting their transactional email system off the ground. Mailgun takes emails received over API and then sends them out to your users.
It's pretty cheap relative to other products out there like Sendgrid. There's a lot some decent logging that gets outputted for non-engineering marketers to look at to see what's going on. Pricing scales up with you so as you grow you pay a bit more but again pricing isn't so bad. Getting started is also fairly easy because there's a lot of documentations.
Shared IP address accounts will have a hard time sending to Hotmail or Microsoft Outlook emails. For whatever reason Microsoft and Hotmail flag Mailgun IP addresses as more spammy. Also, this is probably a higher-coding email provider compared to tools like Mailchimp. But, given the price, I'm a big fan of Mailgun to get started if you're coding a side project and need transactional emails to go out.
Dojomojo is a platform that lets brands connect with other brands to partner together mostly for email-type campaigns to grow your audience and customer base.
Dojomojo makes email sweeps and partnerships easy! They allow you to search their marketplace of thousands of brands, connect with them, and run sweeps, email buys, or partnerships.
For those that don't have a deep rolodex of partners to go to when you're launching your brand, Dojomojo is a good way to get started and that justifies the fees.
It's really simple to get started and worth trying the 30-day free trial.
Nothing yet. I'm just starting it out, but a lot of my marketer friends like the platform as a way to get quality email leads. They aren't going to be as good as leads that visit your site organically, but the marketplace has good brands so they're better than most email leads you can buy at other exchanges.
Marketo is a powerful and easy marketing automation software that helps marketing and sales professionals drive revenue and improve marketing accountability.
From prospects to customers, lead routing to triggered activities, Marketo helps get our leads to the right people in record time. It's not only helped track our leads more precisely, but allowed us to discover trends. Not only is Marketo itself wonderful, but its ability to integrate with Salesforce provides our team with the data they want and need to make decisions. My favorite feature, and will always be my favorite feature, is the Marketo smart list. They're perfect for slicing and dicing data exactly how you'd like.
It's only downfalls are that sync times can be slow if there are large data updates - pretty common amongst Marketo automation products, so not specific to Marketo. It's reporting abilities are also nothing spectacular.
Iconosquare is a Facebook and Instagram management tool.
Iconosquare is great at managing Instagram and Facebook accoutns for brands, and for a lot of brands, those are the big two right now. The 14-day free trial is also pretty sweet, but what I like most is that the advanced tier is fairly reasonable at $59/mo. Usually I find these tools around $99+.
In terms of product features, Iconosquare does all the things you'd expect. Analytics, scheduling, etc. They do also allow you to schedule Instagram Stories, which is pretty new, and they provide a great visual calendar so you can see what posts are going out when.
Overall, I recommend Iconosquare for any brand that wants to invest in IG and FB but needs a tool to help them schedule their posts all in one place.
It's only for Instagram and Facebook so if you want to invest in other channels you'll need a different tool. And usually those other tools--like Buffer or Hootsuite--include Instagram and Facebook so you might consider using those instead of investing in Iconosquare and another tool.
Easily add accounts, schedule posts across major platforms and add account managers. In addition, the company also has a robust training platform that teaches not just the tools, but how to think about social marketing as a whole.
Hootsuite is very helpful for scheduling social media posts and keeping track of what works and what doesn't. I can easily schedule posts across our social media platforms weeks in advance, and change and edit as needed. It has made social media management a breeze. Easy, and worry-free Hootsuite is very helpful, even if you are an amateur. It will up your social media game! I highly recommend this product.
On occasion, I have had some issues scheduling video and gif posts to Instagram, but other than that I enjoy it. That said, I am getting more used to it and can anticipate these problems now. Now that I have figured out this issue it is mildly annoying but less stressful.
Indie Hackers is a community for founders, entrepreneurs, and soon-to-be entrepreneurs.
Indie Hackers has a great community of people who are already founders or looking to be founders. This means you'll get in front of really good marketers, engineers, designers, etc. who might be interested in your product or service. It's also a great place to talk through ideas or learn from others who were in your shoes before.
I also really enjoy their podcast where Courtland talks with a founder of a profitable internet company. In those podcasts, there's a ton of good information about the dos and donts of being a founder.
Lastly, from my own personal experiment, I was able to grow my email list by ~500% with a good Indie Hackers post. I highly recommend it if you're marketing a product where the customer would be a founder-type person.
Like any community website, you only get as much as you put into it. You'll need to work on your pitch to create an engaging post title if you want to attract attention and get users to learn more about your product or service.
A platform that helps send your customer data to the tools where it can be used most effectively. You can collect data from everywhere (mobile, web, server, cloud apps) and load it into Segment. Then, through Segment, you can send your data to hundreds of tools for marketing, analytics and so on.
I've integrated Segment into multiple projects in different languages and environments. It is incredibly easy to use both their snippets and libraries; the documentation for their platforms has also improved significantly over the last two years. The customer support has also been incredibly responsive, even with very technical/implementation specific queries. I appreciate that we can get all the raw events in our own Redshift cluster, letting us perform powerful internal analysis separate from their data analytics integrations.
I would like to see more support for tracking non-user entities (e.g. an action taken by an organization, which would also have organizational identify calls), but overall, I'm happy with Segment as our data collection layer.

Heap is easy to implement, easy to use, and very simple to deploy. It gives the "lay-person", a marketing team member, or business team member who is NOT a tech savvy data scientist the ability to review the most important data, answer questions in a meaningful way that allow meaningful and clear decisions to be made based on data.

To put it simply, Buffer lets you schedule posts on social networks or let Buffer post on your behalf at the best time.
I like that I can manage my business social profiles at once. Also it's great because Buffer scan your audience to check and find the right time to post. You can also program the posts so you do not have to follow every profile every minute.
The tool isn't really seamless, gives errors out of the blue. The support isn't the best either. A lot of things could be improved regarding the robustness of the product. The tool is also very pricey for no reason, I'll be making a switch as soon as I get a better deal in the same price. Some of the ones I'm looking into our Hootsuite, Sprout, and Sendible. Would love any recommendations from others.
Boing Boing made this amazing tool that let's you get the Youtube thumbnails from a Youtube video.
All you have to do is get your Youtube link, drop it into the tool, and Boing Boing will scrape the link for all of the Youtube thumbnails associated with that link. The largest image they can grab is 1280 x 720, which should be more than enough for your marketing needs.

For those not familiar with email marketing, you usually can't make changes to your emails once they've been sent from your ESP. Once it's sent, the email content is locked.
With Movable Ink, you can trigger dynamic content (text, photos, videos, etc.) the moment the customer opens the email even if the email was already sent. A good example would be you have a 24 hour sale and the email goes out at midnight and you want to put in a countdown timer in the email. Movable Ink will send your email and then your subscribers will see an accurate countdown at the moment they open. If they open the email at 12:01am, they'll see 23 hours : 59 minutes left. But if they open at 12pm, the countdown will update with 12 hours remaining.
This technology is basically personalization taken to the next level and allows marketers to increase engagement with emails with more relevant content (e.g. you can send a new sale to replace a module in an old email or put the nearest store to the customer).
I just wish there was more flexibility with the contract terms. They didn't appear open to doing a trial type period.
Pendo is a product cloud that provides user insight, user guidance and user communication for digital product teams. Captures product usage patterns and user feedback, and lets you communicate in-app to onboard, educate and guide users to value.
They could imprve the polls. My understanding is you are limited to 1 question per guide, and have been wanting to incorporate a 2 part or 3 questions within a single lightbox guide. The workaround we used was to link to an external survey tool.

It makes email automation easy! I also love that we can apply dynamic content within the email campaigns. That is a game changer. It also makes A/B testing extremely simple.
The social shareability of email campaigns is absolutely dreadful. You can’t customize the social icon buttons at all, there’s no way in the email builder to create social sharing buttons without using a third party link generator, and there’s absolutely no customizability with the social card, so all of our emails look completely unformatted and terrible when shared on social media.
With Cision PR software reach the right audiences and manage impact of coverage across traditional, digital and social media.
I love the ease and user friendliness of Cision. I've used other similar products in the past and we've stuck with Cision for a few years now. I greatly appreciate the tagging system and ability to pull reports quickly. I really like the auto tagging feature where I can keep track of my campaigns or crises easily and have reports immediately for my supervisor/client.
I also love just how easy it is to get started. It really is a scalable way to find influencers and outlets, get your story shared out there, and then measure the impact
It's an investment, which isn't a problem for larger companies, but can be prohibitive for smaller companies. In addition, sometimes it's difficult to get nitty gritty data. I wish some features were included in a general cost, rather than being a la carte.
Some other influencer/PR platforms worth looking into are Meltwater and TrendKite.
